In the 9th century, the Banū Mūsā brothers in Baghdad wrote a treatise describing their “instrument which plays by itself.” The mechanisms they invented, became fundamental elements of many modern media arts and automation process. Liang Zhipeng reconstructed the Zurna music finger recorder and Zurna player with modern approach, based on the remaining film copy of a destroyed manuscript.
